Match Preview: Lichfield City (a)
The games continue to come thick and fast for Hinckley AFC as they travel to another team vying for fourth place, Lichfield City, this evening, kick off 7-45pm.
Carl Abbott’s side will play their third game in five days against a Lichfield side who are also in what is now a four way race for FA Cup qualification.
And having picked up six points our of six from their Easter weekend double header, confidence will be high in the Hinckley camp ahead of the trip to The City Ground.
Abbo’s men had to come from behind in both games, but did so with authority in beating Pershore Town 3-1 and Heather St John’s 3-2.
That extended their recent good run to one defeat in eleven, which has brought them to within one point of fourth place.
And they will face a tricky test against a Lichfield side who are only above Hinckley on goals scored, though AFC have played a game fewer.
Lichfield, though, have picked up just one point from their last three games and will be keen to rectify that record before fourth place slips away from them.
Scoring goals hasn’t been a problem for Lichfield though – in Tony Clarke and Dave Yonwin they have a strike force that have netted nearly 60 goals between them this year.
Hinckley did manage to keep Clarke quiet in the game earlier this season, when Hinckley won 2-0 at St John’s Park in August, while Yonwin has netted against AFC this year during his time at Heather.
Lichfield play at The City Ground, Brownsfield Park, Brownsfield Road, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 6AY.
