Match Preview: Bolehall Swifts (h)
Hinckley AFC play their fourth game in eight days this evening when Bolehall Swifts visit St John’s Park in the Midland League First Division, kick off 7-45pm.
A disappointing start to Hinckley’s hectic run of fixtures saw a 2-1 defeat at Heath Hayes, but that has been followed by an impressive 8-0 win at AEI Rugby and a well-earned draw at league leaders Coventry United.
And with confidence high in the camp after the two positive results, AFC host bottom of the table Bolehall in a bid to get back to winning ways in the league.
Carl Abbott’s side will be looking to improve their current run of one win in five in the league, which has seen them fail to improve on their eighth place standing.
After finishing fourth last season, below Hinckley only on goals scored, this campaign has been more difficult for Bolehall. They have, however, picked up four wins from their 23 games and are only one point adrift of second bottom Southam United in a tight battle to avoid relegation.
In Simeon Smith, though, they have recently signed a striker who scored 22 goals in this division last year and he looks to be key to their hopes of avoiding the drop.
Bolehall had the upper hand in the three meetings of these sides last year, with Hinckley’s memorable stoppage time comeback at Rene Road the only time they could avoid defeat against Swifts. Braces from Marco Adaggio and Luke Richards gave Hinckley a comfortable win in an ill-tempered affair earlier this season.
