Match Preview: Sileby Town (h)
Hinckley AFC now take a fortnight’s break from the Midland League Division One as they turn their focus to other competitions, starting with tomorrow night’s Jelson Homes Senior Cup tie at home to Sileby Town, kick off 7-30pm.
For Carl Abbott’s side, tomorrow’s game provides an opportunity to quickly move on from what he called ‘an embarrassing collapse’ in the second half against Heath Hayes. That late defeat leaves them lying eighth in the league table, and the former Wolves Casuals boss says he is ‘very unhappy, and will be undertaking a full review’ of the capitulation.
AFC have won all four matches they’ve played against Leicestershire Senior League sides, but Sileby are likely to provide the toughest test yet. They won the division last year, and would be playing at the same level as Hinckley were it not for ground grading issues.
This time around, Sileby are third but have lost just one of their eleven games (1-0 to Blaby and Whetstone Athletic Reserves) and have two games in hand on second placed Saffron Dynamo.
If Abbo is to lead his side into the Quarter Finals of the competition, he will have to do it without Marco Adaggio, who starts his suspension after being sent off at Bolehall Swifts two weeks ago.
