A fans’ favourite during two spells with Hinckley United, Sam Belcher joined Hinckley AFC as the club’s assistant manager in 2024 six years after a spell as a player.
He initially linked up with AFC in the summer of 2018, seven years after leaving United where he played a crucial role in some memorable victories.
Having originally joined on loan from Wycombe Wanderers, the composed midfielder made an immediate impact at the Greene King Stadium and joined for a second spell in 2011 from local rivals Nuneaton Town.
It was during that time he helped United to the first round of the FA Cup, scoring three times across the tie as United beat Darlington in a replay before narrowly falling to Tamworth. He also scored in a 5-2 win over Nuneaton on New Year’s Day in 2012.
After leaving Dean Thomas’ side, he spent time with the likes of Chasetown, Bedworth United and Rugby Town before joining AFC as a player in 2018.
With knee injuries limiting his playing ability, he cut his managerial teeth at Nuneaton Griff in 2022/23, and also spent time on the coaching staff at Atherstone Town before linking back up with Hinckley as Conneely’s right-hand man.
