First Three Signings Announced
Hinckley AFC are delighted to welcome JJ Melligan, Avun Jephcott and Matt Bailey to the club from Wolverhampton Casuals.
All three have worked with manager Carl Abbott at the Cassies, and bring with them vast experience both in the professional game and in non-league.
Having made almost 400 appearances in the football league for the likes of Cheltenham Town and Leyton Orient, Melligan, 32, will become club captain. The central midfielder has also been capped at under 21 level for the Republic of Ireland.
Ball-playing central midfielder Jephcott, 30, was on the books at Coventry City until 2004, when a serious knee injury prevented him advancing into the professional game. Having also played for Nuneaton Borough, Leamington and Worcester City to name just three clubs, he scored twice against Hinckley United when playing for Tividale in 2012.
24 year old forward Bailey was on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ books, and was a squad-numbered player during Mick McCarthy’s successful reign at Molineux. After loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers and Burton Albion, his career was derailed after sustaining a broken ankle in training. In non-league, Bailey featured for Stourbridge and Barwell before joining the Cassies.
