A message from Ross and Ad

Ross Innes and Adam Davies have released the following message after stepping down from their roles as Hinckley AFC Joint Managers…

After Saturday’s game, we made the decision to resign as Joint Managers of Hinckley AFC.

We had already committed to preparing the team properly for last night’s game, so it was important that we honoured that and gave the players and the club the respect they deserve.

Last night’s performance was exactly what we have been expecting from this group over the last five games. It was the team we have worked hard to create, aggressive, positive and with the instructions to attack teams until the final whistle. There have been glimpses of that early doors against good opponents, but last night showed what it looks like when it all comes together.

We currently sit in a healthy position in the league and, if not for the inconsistency in closing earlier games out, we would be sitting even more positively ahead of others catching up in games. That gives a fair reflection of what this group is capable of.

We must take responsibility as managers for every aspect of the last 12 months since taking over at an early point ourselves.

We spoke with the Board about our decision and, while they asked us to reconsider, we ultimately believe this is the right thing to do.

Tulls and Coops will provide continuity, know the group and what we have tried to build, being a hard working part of it themselves.

The truth is that we haven’t been enjoying it as much as we should. At this level, when football takes up so much time alongside work and family, enjoying it matters.

To the players, thank you. You have been brilliant to work with and leaving you behind is easily the hardest part of this decision.

To The Board, thank you for everything you do for the football club. We have never taken that for granted, and hope you get the credit you deserve.

To the fans, the passion and support you have for the club is incredible, keep it loud and back the lads as a majority.

Now take last night’s efforts into every game.

Nice one.
