Two late goals turned the game on its head to deny Hinckley AFC a pre-season result at Nuneaton Town.
Hinckley started the brighter of the two sides against their higher-level hosts and led inside a minute through Fin Barker.
And soon after it was two – Zach Tellyn converting from the penalty spot.
Both goalkeepers then made smart saves before Hinckley hit the bar from a corner – and that near miss prived crucial as Nuneaton halved their deficit shortly afterwards through Caine Elliott’s fine free kick.
As is often the case, plenty of changes made for a stop-start second half and action was limited until Nuneaton’s late show, when ex-Hinckley man Dec Somel levelled in the 89th minute and then Aaron Roberts chipped home in stoppage time to snatch a win for the home side.
But it was a good workout for Hinckley as they further stepped up their preparations, which continues with Saturday’s Simon Blyth Memorial Trophy trip to Heather St John’s.
