Match Preview: Heather St John’s (a)
Hinckley AFC’s second season kicks off tomorrow as they face landlords and league rivals Heather St John’s in a pre-season friendly at St John’s Park, kick off 3pm.
Manager Carl Abbott has had a good mixture of the old and the new in training over the past fortnight, with many members of last year’s record breaking squad being joined by trialists hoping to earn their place in Abbo’s side for 2015-16.
Tomorrow’s friendly gives an opportunity for Abbo to observe some of the new faces in match action, and monitor the fitness levels of the returning players.
The two competitive matches between the sides last season both finished level; a 1-1 draw on a wet August Bank Holiday and a match on Easter Monday that finished 2-2.
Tomorrow’s game will see Mark Kavanagh take charge of Heather for the first time; he was appointed last month following Lee Knibbs’ resignation.
Don’t forget that we will be holding a meeting in the St John’s Park bar at 2pm to update supporters on the club’s pre-season activity and advise areas where we require more volunteers.
