Three New Additions
Hinckley AFC manager Carl Abbott has today confirmed that Connoll Farrell, Darious Darkin and Sean Williams have joined the club for the 2015-16 campaign.
The trio join sixteen of last year’s record breaking squad who have already agreed to stay, and with just over a month to go until the first pre-season game Farrell, Darkin and Williams become the first new additions of the summer.
An exciting and versatile young forward, Connoll joins from Coventry Copsewood and can play wide or through the middle. He scored 44 goals in all competitions last year, and won the league Player of the Year in the process.
Darious is a young central midfielder who made five appearances for Hinckley United in 2012. Since his release from Aston Villa, he has played for the likes of Bedworth United and Bromsgrove Sporting and Abbott says he will be a ‘hugely influential figure’ this season.
After playing four times for Hinckley towards the beginning of last season, Sean will be a familiar face to supporters at St John’s Park. The highly regarded winger played for Studley and Highgate United after leaving AFC but returns ahead of 2015-16.
Speaking on the three new signings, Abbott said: ‘We have taken our time this summer and identified a select group of players we felt would complement our best group, giving a little more depth where it was needed. ‘We have worked hard to bring these players in, and also worked hard in ensuring the deals represented best value for the club.
‘We are also fortunate that we have been able to retain the lions’ share of a team which has not lost a league game since the beginning of October last year, and are confident that these additions will ensure that we will be competitive from the outset this time around.
‘Certainly we will have a look at some more players throughout pre-season, and there may be further additions, but we are very happy with what we have and cannot wait to get back at it!’
