Hinckley AFC completed pre-season by winning the Simon Blyth Memorial Trophy with a 3-0 victory at Heather St John’s.
In what was arguably AFC’s most complete performance of pre-season, their final friendly saw three goals, three goalscorers and a clean sheet a week out from the competitive opener at Daventry.
The sides looked set to go in level at half time, but Hinckley broke the deadlock just three minutes before the break – Chandler Pegg guiding a header home from a left-wing cross.
And Hinckley made secure of the win late on. Firstly, through skipper Zaki Evans, who added a second following in for a rebound.
And then Ky Green got onto the scoresheet with a superb header from a cross to make it three.
It’s the third consecutive year that Hinckley have won the Simon Blyth Memorial Trophy, and sets Joe Conneely’s side up well for next week’s UCL South opener away to Daventry.
