Hinckley AFC have completed the signing of pacy winger Madundo ‘MJ’ Semahimbo, who joins us after leaving Rugby Town late last season.
A wide man with plenty of tricks and pace to burn, Semahimbo brings flair and previous step five success to Kirkby Road.
Having featured briefly for Racing Club Warwick when they were promoted from the Midland League Division One in 2019, MJ’s main breakthrough into men’s football came the following season, under Joe Conneely at Coventry Copsewood.
He and Isa Abraham scored all three goals between them when Conneely’s Copsewood side beat Hinckley in January 2020, as Semahimbo scored four times in seven starts before lockdown struck.
That was enough to earn him a move to step five with Coventry Sphinx, for whom he played 22 times before joining Rugby Town, and he was part of the Valley side that earned promotion from the United Counties Premier South in 2022/23.
He stayed at step five with Coventry United that summer, before re-joining Rugby at step four in December 2023 and remaining there until late last season.
MJ has featured in a couple of pre-season friendlies so far as a trialist, and he hit the post during the second half of Wednesday’s friendly against Ingles.
Speaking after that match, Conneely said: “He’ll be very, very good for us. He hasn’t played a lot of football (since leaving Rugby in February) but you could see in the second half that he was beating people and twisting past them.
“He’s only going to get better and better and he’ll be a big player for us.”
You can sponsor MJ for just £75 for the entire 2025/26 season, getting your name or business alongside his in each home league matchday programme and on the club website. To sponsor a player, contact Mark Langley on a matchday or email mark@hinckleyafc.co.uk.
Welcome to Hinckley, MJ!
