After an impressive display to beat Cradley Town last time out, Hinckley AFC are back on the road for the first of five consecutive away games as they make the longest journey of the season to Shawbury United.
AFC moved back to the top of the table with a 5-0 win over third-placed Cradley last weekend, albeit having played a game more than Droitwich Spa, which was a fourth straight victory in all competitions.
A quintet of away games will test that run, starting with the long trip to Shrewsbury.
The opposition
Shawbury’s tough start to the season saw them pick up just one point from their opening six games, but since then a run of five wins in 11 games has lifted them clear of the relegation zone.
A draw against play-off chasing OJM Black Country and 4-2 win away to Sutton United a fortnight ago have been among their recent impressive results, before going down 1-0 to Ingles last weekend.
Reece Jacobs, formerly of Hinckley, has nine goals this season while Seth Ellis has chipped in with five.
Previous meetings
After losing 2-1 in the first ever match between the sides last October, Hinckley hit back with a 6-2 victory at Shawbury’s former home in Ludlow in March, before winning the first match of this season 3-0 at Kirkby Road. Lewis Rankin, Matt Dawson and Adam Barber provided the goals on a sunny afternoon in August.
