Hinckley AFC’s renaissance continued as two goals in each half earned another resounding 4-0 win over Holwell Sports.
This was Hinckley’s first home game since the humbling by Hucknall two weeks ago, and their response to that defeat has been terrific.
They’ve won all four games since, scoring four goals on each occasion as Lewis Padmore’s goal in time added on maintained that sequence.
Hinckley were excellent in the first half and took control of the game inside the opening ten minutes. Barely a minute had been played when Jeremie Agholor put them in front with a cracker, cutting in from the right flank before curling a left foot shot into the top corner.
That lead was doubled on seven minutes, Tom Weale driving home his shot from the edge of the area.
In control on the scoresheet, it was all Hinckley as they passed the ball well and created a number of chances, only to be constantly thwarted by Ben Challis in the Holwell goal who kept his side in the game.
New signing Chris Camwell had a good first half. His deflected 30 yard free kick was pushed aside by Challis, who then made a fine reaction save from Charlie Evans’ neat header before the best of the lot from Challis, a fine double save to beat away Camwell’s free kick and recovering to beat away Jack Edwards’ well struck follow up.
Holwell threatened briefly when Agholor was in the right place to head off the line, before Hinckley’s best move of the half. It was started by Matt Hill’s throw out and swept the length of the pitch before Drew Kear stabbed narrowly wide.
Holwell showed a good deal more spirit after the break to make it a more even affair. Aaron Black volleyed wide at the near post before heading straight at Hill when well placed, but they never truly threatened and Hinckley ended the game as they began it by bagging a couple of goals.
Weale whipped in a free kick at good pace that visiting defender Luke Peberdy could only head into his own net, before Padmore completed the scoring in time added on with a coolly applied finish from the angle after racing clear of the Holwell defence.
A good day for Hinckley, made better with a 30 minute appearance for Isa Abraham to intensify the competition for places.
