Match Preview: Heather St John’s (a)
There will be a homely feel to the Midland League First Division match this afternoon, when Hinckley AFC take on landlords Heather St John’s at St John’s Park, kick off 3pm.
It will be Hinckley in the away dressing room today, though, as they were for the pre-season friendly between the two sides back in July, a match that Hinckley won 4-2.
However, manager Carl Abbott felt that the friendly would have no impact on this afternoon’s result. Before the friendly took place, he said: ‘We will be playing Heather so early in pre-season that I don’t think it will be in any way representative of the league season ahead.’
Heather currently sit eighteenth in the Midland League First Division table – they have drawn one and lost three of their opening four matches.
After Saturday’s defeat to Bromsgrove Sporting, Hinckley lie twelfth, with six points from five matches.
Chris Sockett returned to the side for Saturday’s match following the departure of full backs Greg Webb and Lewis Gorle. Webb has returned to league rivals Atherstone Town, while Gorle has joined Rocester.
