Hinckley AFC return to Kirkby Road this weekend to take on Newport Pagnell Town with both sides coming off the back of their best results of 2026 last weekend.
After Saturday’s promising away draw at high-flying Histon, AFC come back home looking to build on that and pick up their first win of the calendar year.
The opposition
Newport Pagnell come into this one off the back of their biggest win of the season so far, having put seven without reply past Yaxley last weekend – their second win and clean sheet in a row having previously beaten Sileby Rangers 1-0 late on.
Pagnell started the season with five straight defeats, including 2-0 to Hinckley in the reverse fixture at Willen Road, but a change of management brought the return of their FA Vase-winning manager Gary Flinn and an upturn in fortunes (they won seven of their next nine).
As such, they’re now eighth in the table, six points back from the play-offs but most of those sides above them have games in hand.
Corvell Pickering and Jake Watkinson both grabbed hat-tricks last week – they’re on 19 goals apiece for the season so far while Fin Jaggard and Jacob Williamson, brother of Lionesses captain Leah, are also in double figures.
From the dressing room
“We haven’t played Newport Pagnell during our time at Hinckley yet, but we faced them when we were at Atherstone in the quarter-finals of the FA Vase. They beat us on penalties and reached the final, so from a personal perspective we owe them one. So we know a lot about them, we know the manager well and they’ve got a core group of players still there.
But building momentum from last week from last week really sets us up. And we’re pleased to be back at home, where we enjoy playing in front of our own fans. With our home games being on an artificial pitch, we have our way of playing at home but then need to turn the tables and play differently away, especially in the winter.”
