Management update: early February

Ross, Chris and Adam give their latest management update following a tough run of results to start the new year…

“As always, thank you to the fans for your unwavering support. Especially when the run of defeats has been as it has.

It’s a strange feeling, confidence is low in front of goal, but the opportunities are there, we are not converting and in spells where we are on top and playing well we must do that.

These are moments you drag yourselves out of it kicking and screaming as nobody will do it for you. As a management we will not hide from the fact that this run is not good enough, and collectively no amount of gloss over can be put on it, so we will not do it.

We have to hate losing, even the thought of it, and refuse to put ourselves in a position where we can lose by not converting what we create.

That is not just attacking players, it’s us, it’s everyone. Nobody can look in the mirror at the moment and say they are doing enough, that would be the wrong mentally to have, it’s time to grasp the challenge of dragging ourselves out of this rut by turning the imperfect into something.

We will protect our players though, it is not without lack of effort, it’s a lack of confidence and only we as a collective can create the change to break that cycle.

We get what we deserve. Sometimes we have deserved more, but when it’s boiled down, it must be better, all the way through the unit.

Keep the faith as we know you will. We will work harder than ever to get this right. Not luck, not fortune. Just sheer grit and determination. You don’t become bad overnight, you become better when you choose to.

Thanks as ever.
