Hinckley crashed out of the Leicestershire Challenge Cup at the first hurdle as a dominant Ashby Ivanhoe side made comfortable progress.
Hinckley made just one outfield change from the side that won so impressively at Eynesbury on Saturday, but the level of performance was way down and it was a miserable evening for the travelling faithful.
Ashby quickly got on top of the game and went in front after 17 minutes, George Clark delivered a low free kick from the left and Sam Birks reacted quickest to turn the ball home.
They doubled their lead on the half hour, Ben Gough ran from just inside the Hinckley half before drilling a low, precise shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards.
It got worse for Hinckley before the break, Gough again prominent as he drove in a low cross from the left that was deflected into the net.
Shell shocked Hinckley couldn’t get going and Ivanhoe should have increased their lead either side of half time when Clark blazed over and Keelan Fallows blocked well as Kai Svarc bore down on goal before they did make it four when Birks added his second of the night.
Both sides made a raft of substitutions as the game drifted towards its inevitable conclusion with AFC being denied a consolation when Jacob Shilton’s goalbound header was superbly saved by Jay Rabone.
