Management’s early October update

Ross, Adam and Chris have given their latest management update for the start of October…

“We never get too high with the highs, or too low with the lows. A huge thank you to the brilliant support home and away this week.

The boys need to be proud and have perspective on the unbeaten run since we have come in, which was ended yesterday at Godmanchester Rovers. The conditions were the same for both teams and we gave ourselves too much to do with our first half performance, but credit must go to Godmanchester who were clinical and smart throughout the entirety of the game. That’s something which we will learn from quickly heading into the next game at home to March.

We’ll train tomorrow night which fans, as will always be the case, are welcome to come in and watch. We will use our second session to continue to sharpen our style and mentality in and out of possession with our young group, who we are also proud of.

We have ambitions to push on, so every game is a big game and should be treated as such, whether that’s at home or away. The positive is the mindset and ability to stick to a plan that was showcased on Monday against Aylestone Park is well within the group, so yesterday will be treated as a ‘learn quickly and move on’.

There will be wins, draws and losses across a football season, but mindset, standards and expectations we have collectively set of each other must be maintained to be successful.

The most pleasing aspect of yesterday’s loss was the lads’ response to losing, It felt like a strange feeling to them, both in the changing room and into the evening in conversation. That means they care, and we
will see a different version of them next time out, with that AFC feeling and collectivism at the core of it.

Ross, Adam and Chris”
