End of August management update

Ross Innes, Adam Davies and Chris Tullin will provide regular updates from the management team throughout the season.

Here is their first – coming after their first 10 days in charge at Hinckley AFC and following the draw with Northampton Sileby Rangers…

“The game against Sileby feels like a loss after Monday. But some perspective is required and it’s points lost, which is frustrating, but there are good lessons learnt for all of us.

The first being the standards of what we expect. We must work harder and run harder than every other team in the league as a minimum. And we agreed at half time that we didn’t do that – and that will improve.

In the second half we were much improved, and while we had chances and flashes to win a couple of games, we didn’t test the keeper enough. Ranks came on and did what he will do when he’s fully fit, which is a huge positive.

But in all honesty we have never been involved in a game where we have had an injury in the warm-up, another 40 minutes in, and multiple knocks during the game which lads played through.

At the moment we are in a period of transition, which is understandable. And as we gain a settled squad and we can get on the training pitch, we will really be able to put our stamp on things. Huge credit goes to the boys who have been so committed and welcoming to the new lads who have been brought in.

Caleb Yeboah was outstanding, and we sympathise and will look after the boys who suffered injuries before and during the game.

Lastly, a word to the fans. From shaking hands prior to encouraging the players during an improved second half, your support is and will continue to be invaluable to us. And we feel very welcomed.

We will continue to build, and be positive in doing so.

Adam, Ross and Tulls.”
