Hinckley AFC 4-1 Bugbrooke St Michaels

Hinckley made it four successive wins at home with a comfortable victory over Bugbrooke St Michaels at Kirkby Road to avenge the defeat suffered in the reverse fixture in Northamptonshire last month.

Bryan Kohyrelon gave Hinckley an early lead but it was a quickfire burst of three goals either side of half time that confirmed the victory.

Leo Farruch was instrumental in the first three, creating two and scoring the other with Luke Jones and Zaki Evans also getting on the scoresheet.

Hinckley went in front on ten minutes. Farruch enjoyed his first significant contribution with piece of classic wing play as he beat his man and got to the left hand byline before pulling a ball back into the danger zone. After a frantic few seconds of pinball, Kohyrelon seized on the loose ball and buried his precise shot low into the bottom corner.

After a lengthy delay midway through when the desperately unlucky Alex Vineall suffered another injury, having to leave the field after a clash of heads, AFC took control of the game as half time approached.

Their lead was doubled when Farruch timed his run perfectly to get on to Jared Bradshaw’s pass and raced clear of the defence before taking the ball around the keeper and applying a really neat finish.

In time added on at the end of the half, Hinckley made it three, Farruch again involved as he pressurised and then dispossessed a defender on the edge of the Bugbrooke box before crossing for Jones to score.

Moments after the interval, Hinckley further extended their lead. Jones’ searching run took him deep into the visitors’ half before he laid a ball back for Jay D’Lionga, whose deep cross was converted on the far post by Evans.

Bugbrooke soon grabbed a consolation when Tom Simmons’ long throw was bundled home by Ben Dimond, but thereafter the game fizzled out.

Both sides made a raft of substitutions that disrupted the flow with Farruch missing a glorious chance to grab a second when he blazed over after good work from Christian Ngueusseu.

All in all, a job well done by Hinckley who built on last week’s promising display in defeat at St Neots and set themselves up for the visit of fourth-placed March next weekend.
