Match Preview: Easington Sports (h)

After last week’s Emirates FA Cup success, Hinckley AFC return to United Counties Premier South action with a first ever visit of Easington Sports.

Having won two of their first three games in all competitions Hinckley are back in the league for the first of a manic run of three games in less than a week.

And they will do so without Zaki Evans and Jack Edwards, who are both starting three-match suspensions following red cards against Aylestone Park in the most recent league game.

The opposition

Easington are also coming into the game off the back of an impressive FA Cup win, returning from a lengthy trip past Bristol to Portishead Town with a 1-0 win last week.

They have played just one league game so far, being beaten 2-1 by March Town United on the opening day, and this will be their first away game of the United Counties Premier South season.

Last season they finished 13th, though would have been in the top half without a three-point deduction. Leam Howards was their leading scorer with 17 goals.

From the dressing room

“The schedule doesn’t get any easier with three games in six days. We’ve also lost probably our most used starting three from last season in two weeks in Zaki, Jack and Preston. So that’s not ideal but we’ve got plenty of cover and lads who can drop in there.

“Easington had a fantastic result in the FA Cup last week, it’s a long way to go and credit to them for coming out of that with a win. They’re a new team to us, so a new challenge, but we’ve done all we can to watch them. We need to be better at home this season than we were last season, so we’ll try to make Kirkby Road a fortress but this will be another difficult game.”
