Jack Edwards will become Hinckley AFC’s first-team captain for the new season, supported by Zaki Evans and Lewis Rankin.
Edwards, the club’s second-highest appearance maker of our first decade, will take the armband for the new season following the departure of Danny Fraser.
He has played 130 times in a Hinckley shirt during his time with the club, and needs another 22 appearances to go past Luke Richards as the club’s leading appearance maker.
Joint boss Joe Conneely said: “Jack deserves it, he’s been brilliant and is one of the longest serving players at the club. It won’t be long until he’s played the most games in the club’s history and he deserves the chance to lead the side.
“Zaki has been great since coming in last season, and the lads love him to bits. He does a bit of travelling from his home so it’s a big commitment for him and we’ll reward him for that. Hopefully we can keep him fit because then we’ll see what a good player he is.”
“Ranks has been here the longest of anyone now, and he’s stuck with us through thick and thin. We keep joking that he’s getting on a bit but he’s one of our experienced players and we’ll lean on that during the season.”
