Hinckley AFC can confirm the signing of last season’s UCL South promotion-winning defender Jay D’Lionga.
Jay joins Hinckley after leaving Racing Club Warwick, where the right-back played 37 times during their promotion-winning campaign last season. That included a start in the play-off final when his side beat Aylestone Park to secure a place at step four.
Joint boss Joe Conneely said: “Jay’s a fantastic addition. We had to replace Matt Dawson, he was probably the most important player to replace, but Jay came along at an important time.
“He talks and organises well and has been fantastic for us in pre-season. He knows how to get out of step five and he knows what this league is about.
“He’s a great lad who’s bought into what we want and expect.”
Last season was the second in a row that he had been part of a promotion-winning side at step five. He spent time with Walsall Wood in 2022/23, where he featured 12 times to help them to the top of the league before joining Warwick.
Having played for Alvechurch as a youngster, he then featured for Cadbury Athletic, Heather St John’s and Romulus in the Midland League, winning the Division One title with Heather in 2019.
