Hinckley AFC return to league action on Saturday with a trip to in-form Coventry Copsewood – subject to a midday pitch inspection.
It’s the tale of two in-form sides at Allard Way as Hinckley, off the back of seven straight wins in all competitions, will look to make it an eighth at Copsewood.
Nobody has picked up more points from their last six league games than Hinckley, but tomorrow AFC visit a side who will look to continue their impressive recent run too.
The opposition
Copsewood have won five of their last six in all competitions, including a win over third-placed Droitwich Spa in Division One and culminating in a victory in the Coventry Evening Telegraph Cup last week.
Their only defeat in that run was a narrow 3-2 reverse at Wednesfield, while they have also won each of their last three at home.
They sit 15th in the table, and are one of nine sides separated by just seven points. They have also scored the most goals of any team in the bottom half,
Sam Ellis, who ended last season with Hinckley, has recently returned to Allard Way and netted a brace in their win over Droitwich a fortnight ago. Sean Kavanagh is their leading marksman with 10.
Previous meetings
Ellis was part of the Hinckley side beaten 4-1 by Copsewood towards the end of last season, as the home side came from behind to take advantage of Brandon Bache’s red card.
That was the latest of Hinckley’s run of just one win in their last six at Allard Way – with three draws in those visits to the venue.
Prior to that, Hinckley won both matches between the sides at Kirkby Road with Chandler Pegg taking the headlines with a hat-trick in a 9-0 win in the league, before a more regulation 2-0 success in the League Cup.
