An outstanding team performance saw Hinckley AFC make it four wins in nine days with a comprehensive 8-0 victory over a youthful Coton Green side.
Despite effectively having the points in the bag leading 4-0 at the break, there was no let up in intensity after the break as ruthless AFC kept playing right to the final whistle.
And the visitors were overwhelmed by their hosts as Hinckley added four more after half-time to take a convincing win.
After visiting keeper Jimmy Griffths did well to tip over Jeremie Agholor’s cross shot at full stretch, Hinckley took the lead midway through the first half, a wonderful goal from Lewis Rankin who took his time to work himself an opening on the edge of the area before drilling home a precise finish.
That goal opened the floodgates as AFC took complete control and doubled their lead within a couple of minutes. Jordan Holmes’ low free kick into the box wasn’t cleared and the loose ball was dispatched by Sam Walton.
Hinckley continued to press and grabbed a third. Jack Beasley’s searching pass picked out the run of Danny Fraser on the edge of the Coton area, he beat keeper Griffiths to the ball before converting from an acute angle, and just before the break, his fellow full back Matt Dawson got on the scoresheet with a ferocious finish from the right hand edge of the area.
The visitors threatened at the start of the second half, but Brandon Bache showed his determination to keep back-to-back clean sheets to make a double save as Connor Okereke bore down on goal.
But play then switched back to the other end and the irrepressible Rankin grabbed his second of the night, a clinical first time finish from the edge of the area.
Skipper Fraser added his second midway through the half, riding a strong challenge as he raced into the box but he kept his balance to slide home from a tight angle.
Even at 6-0, Hinckley’s work ethic was admirable as they kept pressing and grabbed a another couple in the closing moments, Josh Clews with a delightful finish into the top corner from 20 yards out before Mitch Piggon converted from close range to round off an excellent night’s work for Hinckley.
