Hinckley AFC booked our place in next month’s League Cup final at the Bescot Stadium after a penalty shoot-out win over Atherstone Town.
AFC recovered from missing their first two spot kicks to ensure they will head to Walsall on 10th May to face Whitchurch Alport.
Goalkeeper Cameron Belford converted the winning spot-kick having saved from Ryan Quinn to give AFC the advantage.
But it started badly for AFC as first Nick Brandish hit the post, before Atherstone’s Danny Harris scored and then Chandler Pegg saw his effort saved by Alec Hill.
But from there, everything went Hinckley’s way. Callum Carsley and Perry Cotton both missed the target in Atherstone’s next two either side of Luke Wilson scoring to level it up.
Lewis Collins put Hinckley 2-1 up, and then it was down to Belford as he guessed right to save from Quinn before converting the decisive spot kick himself to secure Hinckley a place in the final for the second time in six years.
