It is with deep sadness that Hinckley AFC have learned of the passing of former director and life member Gerry Abbott.
Gerry was part of the working group that formed Hinckley AFC in 2014 and served on the Board of Directors in the club’s early years.
He had a long association with football in the town and was Chairman of the social club at Hinckley Athletic. Upon its merger to form Hinckley United in 1997, he followed the club home and away across the length and breadth of the country. He was also a shareholder in both Athletic and United.
As well as his work in helping form the club, he also served as Match Secretary of the club’s Under 18s team and continued to attend matches up until earlier this season.
He sadly passed away yesterday at the age of 75. A minute’s silence will be held ahead in his memory of our match against Coventry Copsewood this evening.
