Hinckley AFC’s Under 18s returned to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Rugby Borough.
An end-to-end game at Ratby Lane saw AFC’s youngsters defend well to pick up another three points and stay top of the Midland Floodlit Youth League Eastern Division, writes Lee Measom.
Hinckley dominated the early stages, but Rugby soon came into the game and pulled off the first chance – a well-struck effort from 25 yards forced a good save from Pearce.
The first goal went to Hinckley and it came out of nothing. Rugby were running the show for a while, but a loose ball was picked up by Friday who slotted it neatly under the visiting goalkeeper.
After the opener Hinckley came back into the game and a second goal soon followed. A good pass from Hinckley’s midfield found Pratt on the edge of the box who neatly placed it to the visiting keeper’s left and into the bottom corner.
The rest of the half was quiet, however come the second half an exciting game commenced as Rugby looked to close the deficit.
But it was Hinckley who added a third, a neat bit of play found Barrows lurking out on the right hand side whose ball into the box found the chest of Whitley to beat the goalkeeper.
That put the game to bed and finished a good game with some great football on show as Hinckley did enough to earn themselves three points.
