Hinckley AFC are delighted to announce that former Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland assistant manager Kevin MacDonald will coach our pre-season training sessions.
New manager Joe Conneely has brought the former Liverpool midfielder and well-respected coach on board for pre-season to help get his squad ready.
The 61-year-old will head up our training schedule alongside Conneely as we get ready for the new Midland League Division One campaign.
MacDonald was caretaker manager at Villa Park on three occasions, having been assistant manager and reserves manager at the club.
He has also managed Swindon Town and was Steve Staunton’s assistant with the Republic of Ireland national team from 2006 to 2007.
Now he’ll help out with Hinckley to try and ensure Conneely’s team hit the ground running in 2022/23.
Conneely said: “We won’t get anyone better than Kevin coaching us for a stint at this level. He does some work with the Strachan Foundation so I know a bit about how he does things and he’ll be hugely valuable for us.
“It’ll be brilliant for the lads to have someone with his knowledge, coaching ability and experience on board.”
Welcome on board, Kevin!
