The #Hinckley2Heather charity bike ride will return this year for its fifth annual journey – and you’re invited to sign up.
On Saturday 2nd July, the day of our Simon Blyth Memorial Trophy match against Heather, you can get on your bike again in memory of two good friends and fellow supporters.
The ride supports charities in memory of Simon and Ray Baggott, who both had significant influence in the founding of our club.
A group of Hinckley supporters first took on the 12 miles from the town to Heather in 2017, and raised £4500 over the previous four rides.
Now it’s time for round five and each year, the ride raises funds for charities with noteworthy causes.
Last year’s ride raised a record £2000, which was split equally between Mesothelioma UK and Prostate Cancer UK.
This year’s charity for Ray was picked by his wife Debbie – and will be Mesothelioma UK once again. They provide support to mesothelioma patients and their families across the country.
Meanwhile, Simon’s charity, picked by his partner Julia, will be Macmillan Cancer Support. This year we’ll be supporting an extra charity, Hope Against Cancer.
You can still sign up for the ride with just under a month to go.
It will start at The Milestone pub in Hinckley at midday, riding via Dadlington and Shenton. You’ll then take a break at The Rising Sun in Shackerstone before the remaining four miles to Heather.
Entry is £20 per person, and includes admission to the match and a drink upon arrival at St John’s Park. All riders must be over 18 and must wear a helmet.
Heather are also donating a number of raffle prizes on the day and helping to make it all possible.
If you want to get involved, contact event organiser Marek Portland directly or email Hinckley AFC director Mark Langley on mark@hinckleyafc.co.uk.
