Hinckley AFC are saddened to learn of the passing of a man who was instrumental in the founding of our club, Dave Newman.
Dave, pictured above with wife Linda, lost his brave battle with illness this weekend aged 78.
A long-standing supporter and board member of Hinckley Athletic, he followed the merger to Hinckley United as a loyal follower.
He was then brought onto the Board at United in 2000.
A highly respected man, he hardly ever missed a game whilst on the Board at United and stepped down from it in the year prior to the club’s liquidation.
He followed Hinckley into the new club, AFC, and was part of the working group that formed the club in 2014 having been instrumental in shaping the club’s early days.
Though his health prevented him from being a board member of the new club, he remained a loyal follower and still made occasional appearances at Kirkby Road alongside Linda until recent months.
Rest in peace, Dave.
