Hinckley AFC play their final match of 2021 with a local derby at Kirby Muxloe on Tuesday 28th December, midday kick off.
After 13 wins from their last 15 games, Hinckley go into their last match of the calendar year knowing another win will keep them top of the table when Big Ben bongs to welcome in the New Year.
But tomorrow they face a Kirby Muxloe side who have form for taking points off sides in the top eight. They sit solidly in mid table – 11 wins and three draws from their 26 games leaves them 11th.
But they have beaten both Harrowby United and Belper United, as well as taking points off Hucknall Town. Kyle Tott leads the way in front of goal with 12 while Lucca Watson-Quilter has hit ten.
Despite being in the same league for the last three seasons, the sides haven’t faced since pre-pandemic days. In fact, Hinckley’s final league match before the first lockdown was at Ratby Lane – a fairly forgettable goalless draw in March 2020.
That was in stark contrast to the reverse fixture of that season that saw eight goals in a 5-3 Hinckley win – both Luke Richards and Kirby’s Andre Williams hitting hat-tricks.
Since then, Kirby have also had an artificial pitch put down with their facilities also boasting an extended car park since our last visit.
Kirby play at Ratby Lane, Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire, LE9 2AQ.
