Hinckley AFC manager Courtney Belford has provided an update on injuries within his squad.
The last few weeks have seen Lewis Rankin make his return from a long-term absence, but Jeremie Agholor was stretchered off against Aylestone Park.
After Saturday’s draw with Graham Street Prims, Belford updated supporters on where his players are in terms of recovery.
The first player expected to return is Charlie Evans. Evans has missed the last two games having picked up a knock against Radford but Belford hopes to see him back in the next week or two. “Charlie’s had an issue with his groin. He’s played a lot of football so we think it’s just a bit tight. The doctor will have a look at him on Tuesday and we’re hopeful he’ll be ok for Friday.”
However, the news is less positive for Agholor who is having a scan on the knee he injured last week. “We think it’s a meniscus tear and he might need an operation.”
Midfielder Ben Newport also needs an operation in December. “He was fantastic for us in pre-season but hasn’t played since.”
He also said that Tyson Knight has had an operation on his hand. Knight is expected to miss around ten weeks while that recovers.
Ryan Murphy has also missed six weeks through injury. He was an unused substitute on Saturday.
“It’s why we’ve got a big squad,” said Belford. “We’ve got to make sure that we’ve got enough players for every game. We’ve probably used too many players this season but if lads are unavailable we’ve got to make sure we can still turn the screw.”
