Hinckley AFC youth team product Reece Giles has earned a move to National League North side Kettering Town.
Giles has spent the last few weeks training with the Poppies and has made significant impact at the club to be offered a deal there.
The midfielder made his debut as a 16-year-old for AFC under the management of John Ramshaw in 2016.
He impressed Courtney Belford immensely when the new manager came in, and quickly made a midfield place his own.
Popular with his peers and fans, he won the Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Young Player of the Year after the shortened 2019-20 season.
Now 18, Giles links back up with Ramshaw, now the assistant manager to Paul Cox at the Poppies.
Belford said it was a move that Giles fully deserved. He said: “I’m made up for him. He’s such a great kid. We gave him the opportunity at 16 to come into the team, he took it with both hands and hasn’t looked back.
“It was only a matter of time. We were never going to be able to keep hold of him forever, and we don’t want to stop any lads from progressing. It’s a fantastic move.
“I spoke to John Ramshaw, who’s looking forward to working with Reece again so he’ll be well looked after.”
Everyone at Hinckley AFC would like to wish Reece the very best for the future.
Good luck, Reece!
