Central defender Ky Green will miss the start of the new season through the knee injury he picked up in the friendly at Harborough Town.
Early indications are that Green tore his meniscus during the second half of that friendly after an innocuous looking clearance.
He’s awaiting a scan for the full prognosis but initial predictions are that he’ll spend six to eight weeks on the sidelines.
Manager Courtney Belford admitted it was “not great news”. He said: “Ky’s probably worked harder than anybody to shift a bit of weight, get himself fit and ready for football.
“He’s been brilliant in pre-season, he’s a great character around the dressing room. We brought him along to Chelmsley because we wanted him to be around the lads.
“We’ll miss him but if he can stay in and around the changing room and have that banter with the lads, that’s still important.
“He’s got to take his time, there’s no need to push anybody. He needs to make sure he’s right for his own personal life, that’s the most important thing, for his work, and then football will come.”
Best wishes for a quick recovery, Ky!
