Hinckley AFC are delighted that we raised a record-breaking £2000 for charity from this year’s #Hinckley2Heather bike ride.
The amount is more than we have ever raised before, and will be split evenly between Mesothelioma UK and Prostate Cancer UK.
These two charities were specifically selected this year, one picked in memory of Ray Baggott and one in memory of Simon Blyth.
The funds include generous donations from both Heather St John’s and Atherstone Town, who both contributed at our recent matches.
Event organiser Marek Portland said: “To have raised £1000.00 for each charity was more than we expected.
“We had our first female rider in Ray’s daughter Michelle, who was brilliant and raised over £400 for her dad’s charity. We also had manager Courtney Belford join us, who was a privilege to get to know and told fun stories along way and back.
“A special mention too for our photographer Mark Parsons, who certainly put in more miles in by running it in that heat!”
On a sad note, we were saddened to hear that David Bindley from Heather passed away in the weeks prior to the match. The #Hinckley2Heather team have donated £50 in his memory as a kit sponsor for their management team this season.
We would like to thank everyone who took part and contributed to this year’s record breaking effort. We’ll see you for next year’s ride!
