Hinckley AFC can now confirm four more players who will be staying at the club for the new season.
The quartet of Ky Green, Ben Kendrick, Mark Williams and Lewis Rankin have all committed to AFC for our journey into the United Counties League.
They join Matt Hill, Reece Giles, Tom Weale and Isa Abraham in remaining at Kirkby Road for 2021-22.
Centre back pair Green and Kendrick formed a partnership towards the end of 2019-20 but Green only played once last term after an injury in pre-season. He is now in his third season at the club. His prowess in both boxes saw him score five times in the early part of his first season. Meanwhile Kendrick enjoyed an impressive start to last season, playing nine times and helping the side to two clean sheets. He also scored the opening goal against Paget Rangers.
Meanwhile, Williams adds more experience to the spine of the side, and leadership skills from his time as captain at Nuneaton Griff. He’s made more than 60 appearances across his two spells with the club and his disciplined midfield play allows others to express themselves going forward.
One of those is attack-minded Rankin, who celebrated his 26th birthday this week. The former Coventry United and Rugby Town man only played four times before lockdown but impressed in the pair of friendlies against Lichfield and Atherstone in May – captaining the side in the latter.
It means eight players are now confirmed as staying with the club next season – with more to follow shortly.
