Isaac Cooper will become only the third player to reach 100 appearances for Hinckley AFC if he plays in tonight’s Jelson Homes Senior Cup tie at Ashby Ivanhoe, kick off 7.30pm.
Cooper will follow Luke Richards and Mitchell Tomlinson in racking up the century, having scored 15 goals in 99 games across his four spells and having featured in five different seasons for AFC.
It means he’ll reach 100 if he features from the start or from the bench as AFC try again for the Senior Cup opener, after the original tie was postponed last week.
After a couple of seasons in the County Cup, Hinckley are back in the Senior Cup this season with the County Cup reserved for teams at step five and above.
And first up it’s a trip to familiar opponents, with the sides last meeting in Division One just over a month ago.
AFC comfortably won that game 3-0, but Ashby have kicked on since then and had won each of their following three league games until two recent defeats.
It’s also a return to a competition which Hinckley have tasted success in – of the three years in the tournament, AFC have won it and been runners up.
In fact, the last campaign was the only one that didn’t end in the final, a defeat to Lutterworth Town in – a match in which Cooper scored.
Ashby play at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, LE65 1TS.
