Hinckley AFC’s Jelson Homes Senior Cup return kicks off with a trip to league rivals Ashby Ivanhoe this evening, kick off 7.30pm.
After a couple of seasons in the County Cup, Hinckley are back in the Senior Cup this season with the County Cup reserved for teams at step five and above.
And first up it’s a trip to familiar opponents, with the sides last meeting in Division One just over a month ago.
AFC comfortably won that game 3-0, but Ashby have kicked on since then and had won each of their following three league games until defeat to Studley on Saturday.
Their good recent run also sae them down Premier Division side Heather St John’s in the League Cup last week.
It’s also a return to a competition which Hinckley have tasted success in – of the three years in the tournament, AFC have won it and been runners up.
In fact, the last campaign was the only one that didn’t end in the final, a defeat to Lutterworth Town in a match in which Isaac Cooper scored for Hinckley.
With heavy rain yesterday evening and more forecast throughout the day, keep an eye across our Twitter page for any information regarding pitch inspections.
Ashby play at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, LE65 1TS.
