Hinckley AFC can confirm the signings of NKF Burbage captain Tom Smith and former Burbage and Nuneaton Griff forward Scott Smith.
Tom, an attacking midfielder, scored 16 goals along with another now-AFC man, Jake Brown, for Burbage in their first season at step six last season.
That included a brace against AFC last season, one being the winner five minutes from time, while he also set up Burbage’s other goal that day and one in the reverse fixture too.
He was also widely regarded as one of the league’s best players by his peers, with only Atherstone Town’s Jonathan Gould being awarded the opponents’ Man of the Match more times than Smith.
That was on top of 20 goals in their promotion campaign two seasons ago, and 18 the season before that.
Manager Courtney Belford has called his addition “a massive signing.”
Meanwhile, Scott is a powerful forward who counts Burbage and Nuneaton Griff among his former clubs.
He was part of the Burbage squad that gained promotion from Division Two two seasons ago, and featured 14 times for Griff in Division One last season.
And Belford says he provides a different option going forward alongside Luke Shorthouse, the tall striker who signed last week and scored on debut against Rocester in the FA Vase on Saturday.
A former Nuneaton Griff, Nuneaton Borough and Bromsgrove Sporting forward, Shorthouse boasts great knowledge of Division One and has been a prolific scorer at this level.
You’ll be able to read Belford’s thoughts on the trio of new additions on our website shortly.
Welcome to the club, Tom, Scott and Luke!
