Hinckley AFC fell to defeat in their latest pre-season friendly as Nuneaton Borough’s higher level class told in a 6-0 win.
Former Wycombe and Burton striker Stuart Beavon netted four while Lewis Rankin scored twice as Boro eased to victory in a game where Courtney Belford would have learned plenty about his AFC side.
Missing several key players with Mark Williams, Bekir Halil and Luke Richards all away, AFC fell behind after just a minute when the clinical Beavon netted his first.
And just nine minutes later, Jimmy Ginnelly’s men doubled their lead as Rankin found the net.
Hinckley competed well for the next half hour, and while not threatening Cameron Belford in the Nuneaton goal, they held their own against a side from three levels higher.
Boro arguably should have scored more, but had to wait until the stroke of half time for a third when Beavon converted Billy Daniels’ corner – shortly before the same player completed his hat-trick after Rankin was fouled in the box.
After half time, Beavon turned scorer to provider to set up Rankin’s second, but he returned to scoring ways to complete the goals for the afternoon as he added his fourth and Nuneaton’s sixth with 20 minutes left.
