On the eve of the start of pre-season, Hinckley AFC can confirm that four more players have agreed to join Courtney Belford’s squad for 2019-20.
With the line-up of friendlies beginning with the Simon Blyth Memorial Trophy match against Heather St John’s tomorrow, a new quartet have linked up with Belford’s playing squad for the coming campaign.
Former Atherstone centre half Ashley Gray, who can also play on the left side of defence, ends a long affiliation with the Adders to link up with AFC.
Having been at Sheepy Road for the last six seasons, Gray captained the side for spells during his near 150-match spell up the A5. Vocal, strong and quick, he adds Division One experience to the AFC back line.
He is one of two defenders joining alongside another former Atherstone and Nuneaton Griff man, Ky Green. A commanding defender who can also play, the young centre half has great potential and knows Division One having played more than 50 times for those two sides.
Also formerly of Atherstone is versatile right sided man Greg Webb, who is no stranger to the club, having featured at the very beginning of our existence back in 2014. At that time, he joined from Bedworth United and has since featured for the likes of Atherstone, Heather St John’s and Coventry Sphinx. Now vastly experienced at this level, the 27-year-old re-joins ahead of the new season.
The final new addition is midfielder Luke Delaney, a former Walsall trainee who has spent time at Nuneaton Borough and Romulus since leaving the Bescot Stadium. Versatile with a good footballing brain, he played under Belford at Nuneaton Griff.
Your first chance to see the new quartet in action is at St John’s Park tomorrow for the match against Heather St John’s.
