Hinckley AFC manager John Ramshaw says he’s seeing progress in his youthful side, despite Saturday’s defeat to Cadbury Athletic.
Seven members of the Under 18s squad featured in the game, five of them starting and Ryan Mills opening the scoring with his first goal for the club.
But Cadbury hit back with a goal in each half to mean AFC’s winless run goes on.
Despite that, Ramshaw felt it was a decent team display. He said: “The overriding feeling is one of disappointment.
“We can’t buy a win at the moment, and the game was our season personified – individual errors costing us after a decent collective display. We defended well on the whole, and with a really young squad we held our own against a decent side.
“That was pleasing and there were definitely positives to take, but we just really need that elusive win – both as a squad and for the fans.”
Despite the run, Ramshaw also insists that confidence hasn’t been hit too badly. He admits that only the players truly know how they’re feeling, but thinks the players still believe that the win is on the way.
“You could sometimes expect a dip in confidence when a side is on a run like ours but nobody’s showing that they’re lacking in confidence. It’s sometimes hard to judge, of course, but players still look like they want the ball, which is important.
“Callum Carey looked to get on the ball when he came on, and Ellis Chambers showed up well against two experienced forwards.
“The atmosphere around the dressing room is still good and there’s a good team ethos but as I said earlier, we really need that win.”
