After two consecutive postponements, Hinckley AFC return to action today when top-of-the-table Heather St John’s visit the Welfare Ground, kick off 3pm.
AFC’s games against Nuneaton Griff and Racing Club Warwick were both called off last week, so John Ramshaw’s men will have gone 11 days without any match action.
And they face a tough test on their return to the pitch when local rivals Heather make the short trip to the Welfare Ground seeking a ninth straight win.
In their eight previous consecutive victories they plundered no fewer than 50 goals and are among the highest scorers nationally at step six this season with 79 in the league already.
Unsurprisingly, Simeon Cobourne remains their biggest threat having already netted 30 times, but they have added strength in all areas since last season – in particular through ex-Coleshill man Dean Rathbone and former Bromsgrove title winner Luke Edwards.
But despite three recent defeats, Hinckley will take heart from the reverse fixture back in August, when they led twice, only to be pegged back both times, and twice came within inches of the win when Grant Ryan and Sam Belcher both struck the bar late on.
