Hinckley AFC meet local rivals NKF Burbage for the first time this afternoon when AFC make the short trip to Barwell’s Kirkby Road, kick off 3pm.
AFC’s first game under the solo stewardship of John Ramshaw is a local derby as Hinckley meet their LE10 rivals for the first time.
Having fought their way up the leagues in the last few years, NKF are playing at their highest ever level this season having won the Division Two title last term and won Division Three the season before.
Seasons of incomparable success for them gave Burbage great confidence heading into the season, and their good form continued into this campaign as they sit seventh in the table.
Like Hinckley, they were knocked out of the FA Vase last weekend as they also went down away to a Midland League Premier side – beaten 3-0 at in-form Shepshed.
However, they haven’t won in five games – a penalty shootout win at Lichfield aside – in a run that has seen them just drop back from the leading pack.
They sit six points ahead of Hinckley but have played two games more – and while they have found the net 46 times in their 18 games, their defence is the leakiest in the top nine with 31 goals conceded.
Jake Brown has been their biggest threat going forward with 13 goals already, but he has been well supported by Jesse Alcock and Tom Smith, who are both closing in in double figures.
