Match Preview: Uttoxeter Town (a)

Manager James Jepson wants to see a reaction from his Hinckley AFC side when they travel to Uttoxeter Town this afternoon, kick off 3pm.

After last week’s defeat to league leaders Lichfield City, AFC will be looking to get back to winning ways at Oldfields in what is one of their longest away trips of the season.

And after admitting his side didn’t play well enough to get anything from the game last weekend, Jepson wants his players to hit the ground running this time around.

He said: “We’ll have Sam (Belcher) back this week and we want this to be the start of a run where we have a balanced squad.

“For various reasons, we’ve had a lot of change within the squad and we haven’t been able to put the same players on the pitch week in, week out.

“We want to get some continuity going and that’ll help us get better than we have been in recent games.

“There’s no panic button but we know we have to be better.”

Uttoxeter sit just inside the top half of the table with the majority of sides now into double figures for matches played.

They have 13 games under their belt, but have won six and drawn five to leave them sitting in 9th place.

With 10 goals already this season, James Curley will be their biggest threat in front of goal. The striker netted a second half hat-trick against AFC last season to help his side win despite being two goals down.

Uttoxeter play at Oldfields Sports Club, Springfield Road, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, ST14 7JX
