Hinckley AFC lost for the first time in the league this season as Paget Rangers won 3-0 at Coles Lane.
AFC’s unbeaten run came to an abrupt end at the Bears, who led early through Ross Dempster’s penalty.
Karl Walker then doubled the home side’s lead before the break, and Dempster secured the points in the second half as Hinckley failed to muster a response.
James Jepson made just one change to his Hinckley side that eased to victory over Heath Hayes last week – Mahmoud Juma replacing Kieran Harrison.
But in truth, Hinckley were a shadow of the side that won last week and rarely caused Paget too many problems.
In fact, one of their best chances came early, when ‘keeper Conal Dowling had to dive low to his left to prevent Hinckley from opening the scoring.
But after that, Hinckley struggled to find their fluency and they faced an uphill battle from the quarter hour mark. Paget broke the deadlock when referee Callum Fisl pointed to the spot as Walker was felled by Jean Dakouri in the box, and Dempster converted from 12 yards to put his side ahead.
After that, Hinckley were restricted to half chances and scuffed efforts, Dowling rarely troubled.
And Paget doubled their lead just before the half hour. It was a well-worked goal, a neat move down their left leading to Kory Burke crossing for Walker, left in acres of space, to nod home Paget’s second.
Hinckley have come from behind to win twice already this season, but had their work cut out to make it a third. Hinckley clipped the bar with a header after the break, but that was as close as AFC came to scoring.
And Paget added a third with 17 minutes to play, a cross chipped over Adam Harrison allowing Dempster the simplest of tasks to slide into the empty net for a third.
It rounded off Hinckley’s first loss of the campaign, and they have to dust themselves down before the visit of Cadbury Athletic next week.
