Hinckley AFC will look to extend their unbeaten league run at Chelmsley Town today, and assistant manager John Ramshaw says he can see the light at the end of the tunnel for his new-look squad.
Still unbeaten after a win and three draws, the last of which ended Heather St John’s 100% record on Monday, Ramshaw thinks he can see real progress in his side.
“We started to look a lot more cohesive as a unit (against Heather) as oppose to previous matches.
“The light at the end of the tunnel is starting to show that we’re starting to come together more as a team, and there are certainly signs of us becoming a good side.”
The next step towards that light s this afternoon at Chelmsley, on a game that will be played in a 3G pitch.
Ramshaw thinks that will suit his side.
“We train on 3G, we like to pass the ball and get it down and play. On a couple of pitches so far this season we haven’t been able to do that, and the surfaces have suffered because of the long, hot summer we’ve had.
“But we’ll get a nice run of the ball and a true bounce on 3G. I think it’ll suit us.”
Chelmsley have played six league games so far to AFC’s four, and sit level on points with Hinckley having won two and lost four of those.
AFC will be without the suspended Grant Ryan after his dismissal at Nuneaton Griff, but that will be countered by the addition of Richard Hanslow who is in contention to make his debut.
Hinckley won both meetings between the sides last season, a 5-0 win at Pack Meadow in Dean Thomas’ first game in charge back in October, before a much tighter affair in April when AFC edged it by the odd goal in five.
Chelmsley share Coleshill Town’s Pack Meadow ground, on Packington Lane, Coleshill, Warwickshire, B46 3JQ.
