Hinckley AFC have completed the signing of striker Richard Hanslow from league rivals Stapenhill.
The prolific goalscorer was assistant manager at Stapenhill this season, and has bagged a couple of goals for the Swans already this terms.
One of those was against Hinckley on the opening day of this season, when he gave his side the lead with a fine strike on the turn.
And Hanslow wants to show the Hinckley fans more of the same – but in their favour this time.
He said: “I’m the type of player who likes to run off the shoulder and get the ball as high up as possible. I like working with a partner, twisting and turning so I can link up play.
“I’ve spoken to a few ex-players and a few current players as well as the gaffer. They’ve told me what a well-established and well-run club this is, and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Having started at Ashby Ivanhoe, he then moved to Gresley, where he made over 100 appearances and netted nearly 50 goals in a side that won back-to-back promotions.
After leaving the Moat Ground, he helped fire Bardon Hill to promotion from the East Midlands Counties League four years ago, and was part of their side that beat Hinckley in the Jelson Homes Senior Cup final.
On the signing, manager James Jepson said: “He will certainly bring us goals. ‘Itchy’ has scored goals at every club he has been at and I’m hoping he can do the same for Hinckley.
“He scored a wonder goal against us in the summer and it didn’t surprise me one bit. We kept him quiet but then one piece of brilliance from him and we find ourselves behind.
“As well as being a team player he is a great lad too who will provide help for the younger players in the squad.”
We would like to thank everyone at Stapenhill for their co-operation in allowing the move to progress.
Welcome to the club, Richard!
