Hinckley AFC’s new-look Under 18s side are raring to go ahead of their Midland Floodlit Youth League season.
New manager Craig Rose will look to improve on last season’s form in the Eastern Division, with a testing line-up of friendly matches against high profile opposition leading up to the league campaign.
The youth side experienced good runs in both the League Cup and County Cup last term, and will be hopeful of carrying that into the league this time around.
Not only that, the club will be competing in the FA Youth Cup for the first time this season, with Leicestershire rivals Aylestone Park the opposition for their first game in a national competition.
AFC’s Under 18s faced an early test against Stoke City’s youngsters recently, the Championship side’s academy coming out 2-1 winners, and Rose is now looking forward to the remaining pre-season games.
The first of those is against Crewe Alexandra on Sunday 5th August, with AFC Rushden and Diamonds, Kettering Town and Boston United also on the pre-season agenda.
Rose’s men have also been given their first two league fixtures. A trip to league newcomers Nottingham is first up on Wednesday 22nd August, before they have their first home game eight days later against Leicester Road.
The Under 18s train on Tuesday evenings on the 3G surface at the former Greene King Stadium, starting at 7pm for an hour and a half. Players aged 16 to 18 who are interested in trialling should email hafc18s@gmail.com.
